Check-in devices

Before you begin

AiFi offers stores two options for check-in devices:

  • AiFi-owned devices.
  • Retailer-owned devices.

When integrating the app or a credit card terminal, determine if AiFi or the retailer controls the check-in device.

Check-in device location

AiFi uses a flexible method for checking in, which works with different types of check-in devices, like credit card terminals or QR readers. These devices might be part of a larger entry kiosk. Each check-in device has its checkInDeviceId, which allows the AiFi or retailer device to identify where the customer authentication takes place.

The major differences between check-in device location are the following:

  • External check-in devices associate an entry code to the entry zone (behind the doors/gates associated with that device). The next people entering the store link with that entry code.
  • Internal check-in devices link with a scanning zone around them. This links the entry code with the people inside when the entry code signal reaches the store.
